Bobbie vs. Nara Organics: Fact Checking

Bobbie vs. Nara Organics: Fact Checking

In September 2025, Bobbie published an article comparing their organic whole milk-based formula to Nara Organics.

While it’s common for brands to withhold information when making brand comparisons, we believe families should be given all relevant information so they can make the best decisions for their babies.

So here’s the whole story, reviewed by our science team for accuracy. Let us know if you have questions! We’re always here at hello@nara.com.

1. Ingredients & Nutrition

Content outlined in red is from Bobbie’s article published on September 5, 2025

What they got right

  • Nara does offer EU-levels of DHA and ARA (we also add choline and inositol for brain development)
  • We never add palm oil, soy, corn syrup solids, or GMO ingredients

❌ What they missed

  • Bobbie mentions that they are inspired by European standards, but they don’t mention that Nara is European made. Because Nara is made in the EU, we meet EU food safety standards — some of the strictest in the world.
  • Nara doesn't just build on whole milk, we’re the only U.S. formula to use 100% whole milk — no skim (Bobbie uses both whole and skim milk)
  • Nara is designed to be easy on tummies. Unlike Bobbie, Nara adds organic galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) to our formula, which acts as a prebiotic to help support digestion and soft poops.
  • Bobbie does not include prebiotics. They have stated that organic HMO prebiotics are not available, but we’re happy to share that organic GOS contains 3 HMOs also found in breastmilk: 3’-GL, 4’-GL and 6’-GL.
  • Nara is modeled after breastmilk (as are all infant formulas – that’s their job!). The protein in Nara is patterned after mature breastmilk and contains a 60:40 whey to casein ratio supporting easy digestion and nutrient absorption. Nara's fat composition gets closer to breastmilk because we use higher amounts of milk fat.
  • There are significant differences between the two formulations: Nara Organics formula has the highest whole milk content, more milk fat, and organic GOS, which includes three HMOs that are present in breastmilk.

2. Certifications

Content outlined in red is from Bobbie’s article published on September 5, 2025

✅ What they got right

  • Nara is USDA Organic and FDA registered, meeting all FDA requirements for infant formula
  • Our formula has received the Purity Award from the Clean Label Project

❌ What they missed

  • Nara has also been awarded the Pesticide Free certification from the Clean Label Project
  • Every batch of Nara Organics is extensively tested for heavy metals and other contaminants by an external ISO certified lab. Because Nara is made in Germany, our formula is required to be tested for heavy metals that are regulated by the EU but do not have maximum limits in the U.S.
  • Nara has performed voluntary SRC and C. perfringens testing from our very first batch of formula — not as a recent addition to testing

3. Manufacturing and Sourcing

Content outlined in red is from Bobbie’s article published on September 5, 2025

✅ What they got right

  • Correct, Nara is manufactured in Germany to strict quality standards

❌ What they missed

  • Nara is an FDA registered formula that is safely and securely shipped to our U.S. distribution centers, then shipped to your home. Our customers do not experience delays, tariffs, or customs.
  • This comparison feels misleading, as this situation doesn’t apply to Nara Organics. The drawbacks mentioned are typically associated with ordering unregulated formula directly from Europe, not with purchasing Nara Organics.

4. Pricing and size

Content outlined in red is from Bobbie’s article published on September 5, 2025

What they got right

  • The Nara Trial Bundle is $36 for two 14.1 oz cans, although we sometimes have extra deals — keep an eye out

❌ What they missed

  • Subscription cans are $40.50/can, not $45/can
  • Subscribers always get 10% off every month and free shipping
  • We’re working as quickly as possible to be available on shelves — stay tuned!

5. Ingredient Quality & Sourcing

Content outlined in red is from Bobbie’s article published on September 5, 2025

What they got right

  • Nara Organics is USDA Organic, non-GMO, free from soy and corn syrup (we’re also free from skim milk, palm oil, maltodextrin, and GMO ingredients)

❌ What they missed

6. Nutrition and Health Considerations

Content outlined in red is from Bobbie’s article published on September 5, 2025

What they got right

  • Nara is modeled after breastmilk (like all formulas)
  • Nara is designed to be easy on tummies with our 60:40 whey to casein ratio, alongside organic prebiotics to support soft poops
  • Nara is new to the market, however, we have already received over 200+ 5-star reviews from happy parents (and babies). Hear what parents are saying about Nara.

❌ What they missed

  • Nara’s unique recipe was developed with scientists and pediatricians over the course of 7 years
  • Nara Organics has gone through a rigorous FDA review process. In order to be FDA registered, we conducted a double-blind clinical trial spanning 12+ months that showed our formula is safe, supports healthy growth, and is well tolerated by babies.
  • Nara is the only organic whole milk formula in the U.S. that has been clinically studied. Bobbie’s whole milk formulas rely on previously conducted clinical studies of a skim milk formula.
  • Nara submitted its own safety assessment to the FDA in order to use the highest amount of whole milk (and therefore highest amount of milk fat) in a U.S. formula.

7. Taste, Mixing, and Acceptance

Content outlined in red is from Bobbie’s article published on September 5, 2025

What they got right

  • Parents are very happy with how Nara mixes, often noting no residue and little no foam, with a smooth texture
  • The smell and taste of Nara are commonly praised by parents (and babies)
  • Read 5-star reviews from 200+ parents

Babies will regulate how much they eat according to their needs, so this is just a guide. On average, your baby should take in about 2½ ounces of formula a day for every pound of body weight. When caring for your twins, start by choosing double the usual monthly supply. As you evaluate how each baby feeds, you can change the amount of infant formula you order based on their needs. Always talk to your pediatrician if you have questions about your baby’s specific needs.
